Seven Deadly Sins
Recent Regional History
The current state of the world’s nations is still largely defined by the Wrath of the Immortals, a massive war between Thyatis and Alphatia which lasted from AC 1005 to AC 1009. The war became known as the wrath because of the direct influence of the immortals: Glantri was struck by a powerful meteor in AC 1006 and Alphatia sunk into the sea in AC 1009 (effectively ending the war.) The struggle and an associated plague left Thyatis weak. In the absence of these two powerful empires, smaller nations had more opportunity to flourish.
Karameikos has been prosperous during this time but it remains a sparsely inhabited place; a traveler who wanders too far off the main roads is likely to be waylaid by some dangerous creature. King Stefan is very old now, and it remains to be seen if his successor will be able to carry on his achievements. Furthermore, rumors speak of oppression in the west of Karameikos, and rumblings from the nations to the north.
